“What is this?” Michael peered suspiciously at the parchment Jophiel had thrust into
his hand.

“Your invitation to the dance. We organized one for Saturday.”

“Dance? We do not dance.” He even managed to hover suspiciously, his wings beating softly and slowly once or twice each moment.

“We’ve never tried.”

“We were not born to ‘try’,” he sneered. “We were created to serve. Go back to your duties and waste no more time on this foolishness.” He crumpled the invitation and thrust it back at Jophiel before flying off.

“See? I told you Ol’ Stick-in-the-Mud wouldn’t go for it,” Raguel said before he too flew off to a distant corner of the heavens.

“Someday,” Jophiel murmured to himself. “Someday we’ll have a dance.”

The crumpled invitation floated downward, until it was lost amidst the clouds and
the rain.
